R&D Scientist - Multidisciplinary Experimentalist

Internal R&D projects and external consulting with full responsibility

As a Senior Multidisciplinary Experimentalist, you'll have an integral part in developing R&D initiatives and providing consultancy services in the field of Medium and High Voltage Technology. You'll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on diverse projects, utilizing your multidisciplinary expertise to overcome technical barriers and deliver innovative solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Spearheading technical projects and providing essential expertise.
  • Understanding customer needs and implementing initiatives to improve operations.
  • Defining and improving measurement methods and predicting electromagnetic phenomena.
  • Designing and building electrical test circuits and performing experiments.
  • Contributing to the development of new monitoring solutions for quality control.
  • Communicating technical results effectively to stakeholders.

Some key tasks :

  • Modelling and simulation of electrical field distribution, thermodynamic (possibly acoustic) phenomena in materials. Your contribution will be key to allow future design of measurement equipment and increase comprehension of High Voltage and Medium Voltage products.
  • Design and build robust measurement systems able to better understand material behavior in HV electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting and investigation of electrical break-downs, analysis of the results and suggest potential improvements needed
  • Increase comprehension of electrical phenomena in insulation systems, both theoretically and experimentally.
  • Provide consulting services to internal and external customers on technical challenges within own area of expertise.
  • Contribute significantly to effective project results in technology and product development by identifying, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in R&D projects as well as in consulting projects.
  • Build a global network of technical partners and business units.
  • Coaching and mentoring TC team about your expertise areas

The position is permanent, full-time, and located in Västerås, Sweden. 

Expertise in polymer material properties and characterization as a Senior Multidisciplinary Experimentalist

We're seeking a motivated and innovative individual with the following qualifications:

  • A Master of Science or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, High Voltage Engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in R&D or similar roles.
  • Proficient background in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Material Science, and High-Voltage Technology.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to create value for the business and customers.
  • Proficiency in relevant simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, LabVIEW, PSpice, etc.
  • Familiarity with multiple electrical insulation characterizations is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English, with basic Swedish speaking knowledge is advantageous.
