NKT is currently expanding our offshore engineering team and offers a unique opportunity to join one of the leading suppliers of the largest and most complex submarine power cable projects worldwide.

Offshore Installation Engineering Team

As part of NKT’s offshore engineering department you will be surrounded by colleagues within various offshore engineering disciplines. One of the key words in the team is diversity which we take great pride in, which you will find evident from the first day you meet team.
NKT’s offshore engineering department is highly versatile and regardless of the competences you hold at the moment you will be given the opportunity to broaden your engineering and project management competences. 
Our team of seabed intervention engineers are based in Rotterdam. The team supports projects worldwide with engineering solutions related to the preparations of the cable route prior to cable-lay and protection works post-lay. This includes as example engineering works related to pre-sweeping, dredging, trenching, subsea rock installation, PLGR (pre-lay grapnel run) and boulder clearance.
Communication across different departments within the organization and external parties such as clients, subcontractors and suppliers are a large part of the work. 

What you bring to the team:

NKT are looking for a motivated person that can take ownership of their work and deliver a high-quality result according to agreed deadlines.

  • An engineering degree with focus on offshore/marine or civil construction
  • At least 3 years of work experience in offshore installation projects
  • Solution-oriented mindset
  • Reading and understanding contractual and technical requirements
  • Support project team in relations to technical questions towards subcontractors and clients
  • Well-organized regarding information handling such as data management and archiving 
  • Able to work independently on tasks, however presenting and communicating results verbally and in writing to a larger audience is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills in English are expected, additional language skills are considered favorable
  • Basic geotechnical (soil mechanics) and/or oceanography (metocean) knowledge is a strongpoint. However, if no knowledge of these fields, it is expected that the candidate is interested and willing to learn
  • Basic understanding of GIS tools, working with terrain models, CAD programs, VBA or Python programming language is a plus, however willingness to set off time to learn new software or programming is even better
  • Willingness to travel for shorter business travels such as to other NKT offices, visit suppliers and subcontractors and project sites. Potential to work offshore for shorter periods of time
